Where we work & do I need a local Architect?

This is a question we get asked quite regularly by potential clients.

Most of the projects we work on are not local to us here in the Midlands and not being ‘local’ has never proved an issue for us.

Where we have worked:

Please note: In order to protect our client’s privacy only general areas and towns are shown, not exact addresses.

Q: Does using a local Architect give you a better chance of gaining planning consent?

We have submitted planning applications in 40+ different local councils (as of Nov, 2023) across the UK and since founding Portfolio Architects in 2017 and we have an almost 100% planning approval rate.. This proves that you don’t need a ‘local’ Architect.

Every project we take on we do thorough research to understand the local planning policy in your area and design schemes that give the best possible chance of gaining planning permission.

Q: Don’t you need to visit site to measure up?

Building Surveyors are more qualified to measure up your property than an Architect. If you don’t have existing or accurate drawings of your property we can arrange measured survey quotes from third party Building Surveyors that we regularly use. If one of our regular surveyors doesn’t cover your area we tender out the measured survey and get quotes for you.

This way we can spend 100% of our time designing where we add the most value to our client’s projects, instead of conducting measured surveys ourselves.
