The Story Behind This Project
This project truly sparked a shift in my perspective. Instead of just helping clients maximise the value of their homes for substantial profit, I thought, why not do it for myself? This was my second home in London, purchased as a doer-upper—a complete departure from my previous flat, which was an off-plan new build in an up and coming area of South East London.
Located on a quiet residential street in the desirable East Putney area, this duplex 1-bedroom flat required a full renovation. Having been lived in by the previous owner for the last 30 years, it was in desperate need of updates. I could also envision how changes to the existing layout could significantly enhance the space.
The duplex apartment underwent a complete internal refurbishment to the highest standards. The layout was completely remodeled to provide a spacious, open-plan design perfect for modern living. Original period features were lovingly restored, beautifully complemented by the clean lines of Scandinavian interior design, creating a contemporary atmosphere while retaining the charm of its Victorian roots.
To my great delight, I was approached by a journalist on Instagram, who awarded the flat ‘Space of the Month’ in The Resident Magazine, featuring a double-page spread on my project and renovation.
